In Utah, CTSOs have been making a significant impact on students and the community at large, providing young people with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in their chosen fields. The state of Utah has a strong network of CTSOs, including DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, HOSA, SkillsUSA, and TSA. These organizations are dedicated to helping students build a foundation of knowledge and skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.

The Utah Diesel Tech Pathways Program is proud to announce its inaugural Diesel Day, which will take place on April 26, 2023, at the Bastian Agricultural Center in South Jordan, UT. The event is an opportunity for students to learn about pathways to becoming a diesel technician and to connect with potential employers in the industry. The event is open to students from 9th graders to adult learners who are interested in exploring diesel and automotive careers or are pursuing diesel technology as a career path.

Mountainland CTE Region Hosts its First Diesel Tech Tour

The Mountainland Region is excited to announce its first-ever, upcoming Career and Technical Education (CTE) event called the Diesel Tech Tour. On April 13th, 2023, students from the region will be visiting three local diesel shops to explore this career pathway and learn more about the opportunities in the field. The tour is designed to give students a hands-on experience of the diesel industry, allowing them to see the work that goes into keeping diesel engines running smoothly.

Celebrating the Outstanding Contributions of Mountainland CTE Region Winners at the Utah ACTE Awards

On February 3, 2023, the Utah Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) presented awards to deserving recipients from the Mountainland CTE Region. The winners were recognized for their exceptional contributions and achievements in the field of career and technical education. Alan Ashton was named the Utah ACTE Champion of the Year, for his tireless efforts in promoting and advancing CTE programs in the region. Jan Jardine received the Utah ACTE Lifetime Achievement Award for her extensive commitment to the improvement of CTE education and her remarkable impact on countless students.

Young Technology Scholar Award Application

Micro Focus and the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) are pleased to sponsor the annual Young Technology Scholar (YTS) Award. This award is granted to high school seniors who have demonstrated proficiency in computer information technology-related courses and leadership abilities in their schools and communities.

Winners receive a scholarship award of up to $5,000. Winners are selected by the YTS Award Committee, which consists of representatives from Micro Focus, the Utah State Board of Education, and industry.

Every February, the Mountainland Region, Utah, and the nation recognizes and celebrates the impact of Career and Technical Education (CTE) on students and communities. CTE Month provides an opportunity to highlight the critical role of CTE in preparing students for success in the workforce and in life.

CTE education focuses on the development of practical skills and knowledge that students can apply to a specific career or trade. It encompasses a wide range of fields, from healthcare and technology to hospitality and construction, and provides students with hands-on experience and real-world training that prepares them for in-demand jobs.

The TIB externship program offers CTE teachers the chance to spend 64 hours during the summer working in a business or industrial setting relevant to their subject area. By participating in this program, teachers gain valuable work experiences that provide insights into current industry trends and practical applications of classroom concepts.

Empowering Future Healthcare Leaders: Mountainland Region CTE Health Career Fair

The Mountainland Region CTE Health Career Fairs were a resounding success on November 22nd, 2022 in Heber and December 9th, 2022 at MTECH in Lehi. The event aimed to provide high school students with hands-on demonstrations and access to healthcare professionals working in various fields. Over the course of the fairs, over 500 students attended three workshops of their choice, taught by trained professionals from the healthcare industry. These workshops allowed students to learn about different career paths, gain valuable insights, and establish connections with healthcare professionals.
