The “Get the Scoop on CTE” event will take place on September 22 from 5–8 PM at the MTECH Lehi Campus, offering 7th- and 8th-grade students and their families a fun, hands-on introduction to Utah’s 14 career clusters, complete with over 70 interactive booths, demonstrations, giveaways, and free ice cream. Hosted in partnership with Alpine School District, Utah Valley University, and MTECH, the event showcases pathways that lead to high-demand, high-wage careers and highlights opportunities such as Concurrent Enrollment, industry-aligned training, and real-world skill development. With thousands expected to attend, students can explore programs ranging from firefighting and diesel tech to animal science, digital technology, construction, health sciences, and more—making it a powerful and engaging opportunity for families to learn how Career and Technical Education supports future success.

Girls in Aviation Day on September 20, 2025, invites girls to the Delta Air Lines Hangar in Salt Lake City for a free, hands-on aviation experience featuring aircraft displays, STEM activities, and opportunities to meet women working in the industry. The event aims to inspire future pilots, engineers, and aviation leaders while showing girls that their dreams can truly take flight.

On May 15th, nearly 3,000 seventh-grade students from Nebo and Provo School Districts filled the Spanish Fork Rodeo Grounds for the Nebo CTE Expo, an exciting hands-on event designed to introduce young learners to Utah’s Career and Technical Education pathways. Students engaged with interactive booths, explored fields such as welding, aviation, robotics, public safety, and health sciences, and connected with local businesses, CTE teachers, and industry partners. The expo offered students a fun, immersive opportunity to discover real-world skills, learn about high-demand careers, and envision themselves as future innovators and leaders in their communities.

CTE Specialists and Work-Based Learning Coordinators from the Mountainland Region recently met at Utah Valley University’s new Lehi campus to explore high-demand health career pathways such as respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, and paramedics. The visit included tours of UVU’s modern health sciences facilities and discussions on regional workforce needs. These quarterly meetings strengthen collaboration among educators, business partners, and postsecondary institutions to expand student access to high-wage, high-skill careers through internships, apprenticeships, and career pathway awareness.

Utah Valley University’s Smith College of Engineering & Technology will host the CET Expo on April 23 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the UVU Ballroom, where students will showcase their innovative capstone projects through hands-on demonstrations and interactive displays. The event highlights the creativity and technical skill of CET students across engineering, technology, and design fields, offering visitors a chance to explore real-world solutions, talk with project teams, and enjoy a free lunch while experiencing the cutting-edge work happening at UVU.

Blake Nielsen, from the Mountainland Region, was recognized as the May 2024 CTE Teacher of the Month for his outstanding contributions to Career and Technical Education. The skills students gain in Blake’s classes, such as CNC machining, 3D drafting and design, and manufacturing engineering, are highly transferable to various manufacturing settings. In the Nebo School District and across Utah, Blake has been a pioneer in implementing CNC machining.
