The Utah Diesel Tech Pathways Program is proud to announce its inaugural Diesel Day, which will take place on April 26, 2023, at the Bastian Agricultural Center in South Jordan, UT. The event is an opportunity for students to learn about pathways to becoming a diesel technician and to connect with potential employers in the industry. The event is open to students from 9th graders to adult learners who are interested in exploring diesel and automotive careers or are pursuing diesel technology as a career path.
The event will feature education and industry partners from all six regions of the Utah Diesel Tech Pathways Program. Educational leaders representing diesel programs offered throughout the state by technical and community colleges will be in attendance, and students will have the opportunity to connect with these leaders to learn about their next steps in pursuing their diesel certificate. The event will also provide employers with the opportunity to interact with students and their future workforce in a fun, engaging, and exciting environment.
Students attending Diesel Day will participate in structured hands-on learning activities and competitions aligned to various levels of knowledge, experience, and skills. Additionally, employers are encouraged to bring and display heavy-duty diesel equipment and provide fun, entertaining activities to promote student interactions. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the equipment used in the industry and to network with potential employers.
One of the essential steps in a student's pathway to becoming a diesel technician is earning the diesel technician certification from partnering higher education institutions. During the event, students nearing the completion of their diesel technician program will be recognized and awarded their UDTP certificate. Employers are encouraged to offer interview tips, resume-building help, and mock interviews for certificate completers as part of this event. This is an excellent opportunity for students to prepare for the job search process and to make connections with potential employers.
Diesel Day is an open house event for students, scheduled to take place between 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. All attendees will be provided lunch. We hope to see you at Diesel Day on April 26, 2023, at the Bastian Agricultural Center in South Jordan, UT!
