Parents and students alike are invited to the Provo High School campus for an unforgettable experience. The "Get the Scoop on Career and Technical Education" event is designed to provide hands-on experiences that educate 7th and 8th-grade students and their parents about pathways to high-demand, high-skill, and high-wage careers in Utah.  As Clay Bingham, CTE Director at Provo School District, points out, "The experiences gained through Career and Technical courses set up students for a lifetime of career success."

This collaborative regional event brings together educational stakeholders, including local school districts, UVU, and MTECH, to introduce students to various "career clusters" and "pathways." Over 60 booths await exploration, featuring everything from UVU's Aviation program to MTECH's Diesel Tech program and Provo School District's BioTechnology, along with many more.

Discover Your Career Pathway

At this event, we'll introduce you to a wide range of career clusters, each offering unique opportunities. "This event is a fun and engaging way to learn more about how students can leverage their high school experience into rewarding and well-paying jobs, 'earning and learning' as they build exciting careers," Says Wendy Simmerman, Senior Director - Workforce Alignment at Utah Valley University,

These “Career Pathways show students a direct connection between doing well in high school and being able to transition smoothly to postsecondary opportunities or getting a good job when they graduate. Students who focus on a Career Pathway acquire the skills necessary for entry into well-paid careers with high potential for rapid financial growth, increased levels of responsibility, and a high degree of personal satisfaction.” - USBE

In Utah, there are 35 pathways in 13 career clusters. CTE Pathways help lead students to college and career readiness. Career and Technical education is hands-on learning that delivers real-world skills for students.  CTE gives learners technical skills and experiences at middle schools, junior highs, and high schools across Utah. Students who focus on CTE Pathways can earn certificates and acquire essential training to prepare them for future careers, as well as two-year and four-year college degrees.
