UACTE 2024A huge congratulations to our Mountainland Region UACTE (Utah Association of Career and Technical Education) Winter Conference award winners.  The theme of this year’s conference was “Drive the Change.”  The Mountainland CTE Region is proud to be home to many change-makers dedicated to supporting students!

Katie Silcox North Summit CTEKatie Silcox, North Summit School District CTE Director, was recognized by UACTE with the Lifetime Achievement Award.  This award recognizes the contributions and distinguished accomplishments of members who have been identified with the work and purposes of the Association for Career and Technical Education over an extended period of time.  Must be members of ACTE/UTAH ACTE.  Katie was hired by North Summit School District in 1998 as a high school agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor.  In 2014, she accepted the responsibility of being the district's CTE director.  Currently, she is employed part-time as a CTE teacher and part-time as the CTE Director.  As director, she focuses on creating a CTE Career Pathway recognition program. In addition to growing the pathways program, she has creatively worked to increase the number of students in CTE classes as well as the number of CTE teachers.  With help from the Mountainlands  Perkins Consortium, she led the building of a manufacturing and construction pathway program at North Summit.  Her number one goal is always to be focused on "What's best for kids?"
